Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 20, 2026
Summary: We collect the minimum data needed to operate Laptop Party, we never sell your data, we do not store or record live screen, camera, or microphone content, remote-room chat messages are relayed without being stored in our application database, and supported direct file transfers send file bytes between participants rather than through our servers.
1. Introduction
Laptop Party (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our screen sharing service at laptopparty.com (the “Service”).
By using our Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with the terms of this policy, please do not access the Service.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Personal Information
We may collect personal information that you voluntarily provide when you:
- Create an account (name, email address)
- Subscribe to a paid plan (billing information)
- Contact us for support
- Sign up for our newsletter
2.2 Automatically Collected Information
When you access the Service, we automatically collect certain information, including:
- Device information (browser type, operating system)
- IP address (for security and analytics)
- Usage data (pages visited, features used)
- Session information (duration, time of access)
2.3 Live Meeting Media, Chat, and File Transfers
Important: We do not store or record the live content of your screen shares, camera, or microphone.
Remote-room audio, video, and screen-sharing media rely on third-party real-time communications infrastructure to establish and carry live meetings.
Remote-room chat messages are relayed through our service to other meeting participants. We do not store current chat messages in our application database, but browsers on participant devices may keep a local browser cache to preserve room state across refreshes while a meeting is active. After a meeting ends, the application schedules that cached room state for deletion from the browser after a short post-meeting retention period, with an inactivity-based fallback expiry if the end signal is missed.
Supported direct file transfers inside remote-room are sent between participants over a WebRTC data channel when a direct connection is available. We process transfer setup, authorization, and routing metadata, and we may process file attributes such as file name, type, size, sender display name, and timestamp to operate the feature, but we do not upload or store supported direct-transfer file bytes on our application servers.
Browsers on sender and recipient devices may keep on-device cached copies of shared or downloaded files while a meeting is active. After a meeting ends, the application schedules that cached file data for deletion from the browser after a short post-meeting retention period, with an inactivity-based fallback expiry if the end signal is missed.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

- To process your transactions and manage your account

6. Data Retention
We retain account and billing information for as long as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. We do not retain live screen, camera, or microphone content. We do not store remote-room chat messages in our application database, but remote-room chat and direct-transfer file data may remain in browser cache on participant devices across refreshes while a meeting is active. After a meeting ends, the application schedules that browser cache for deletion after a short post-meeting retention period, with an inactivity-based fallback expiry if the end signal is missed, subject to participant device and browser behavior. We do not retain the bytes of supported direct-transferred files on our application servers.
